This is the place where I am supposed to proclaim what this site is about. What can you expect out here and more importantly, to me at least, why you should return at a later date. I am also told that if I don’t care enough to put up this page it means that I am not serious about my blog-land. If I don’t take it seriously, the reasoning goes, why should you?
So I cannot, self deprecatingly, describe it as “ramblings of a demented mind”. Some of you might actually believe and immediately move away from the site. That is why I chose another flippant tag line “Ships, shoes, kings, cabbages and pigs with wings”. It is a quote, sort of. The actual text reads like this “The time has come, the Walrus said, to speak of many things. Of ships and shoes and sealing wax, of cabbages and kings. Of why the sea is boiling hot, and whether pigs have wings.”
A scope like that absolves of one of sticking to any subject. It is like saying I will comment on Life, The Universe, And Everything. Though that is essentially it, who is interested in what I had for lunch? So I need to be more specific and a take a stab at what this is all about.
My friend Murali is a prolific writer. He writes, copy rights and files patents; besides teaching and researching. He told me once that himself. I agree. I am also amazed with his capability. In that same conversation he had added, as a matter of fact, that he liked my quarterly emails – but expressive writing is not his forte.
Expression of my thoughts: that is all that this site is about. At this point I would have very much liked to tell you that there are these many sections and so many categories in each of these sections. I would have liked to tell you what each section and category would be about. But then I would be saying that hence forth I will think within these little boxes.
The flip side is that I run the risk of a new sub-category, category or a section each time I post an entry. I will live with that risk. I hope that eventually the entries will find a way to stick to each other and form puddles of thought. Meanwhile… I love the word “miscellaneous”.
It is not though that I do not have any idea what the site map of the future would be like. I see these three sections – the “Shop Tales”, the “Expressions” and the “Opinionated me”. Shop Tales will be all about talking shop, of the information technology industry that I belong to. May be I will change careers and have more shops to talk about some day. In the mean time it will be about dry subjects like methodology and outsourcing.
To move on, I will mount my high horse in the section titled “Opinionated me” and pronounce my opinions on the way I perceive stuff. Mind you, these are just opinions, not judgments. These would be on whether I like them, or dislike them. Most of the cases where I am ambivalent will come across in the “Expressions” section.
This is where I have the most number of challenges. It is difficult to express thoughts and more difficult to correctly express feelings. That is an opinion; but not a new one and I certainly am not the first one to have the same. “Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.”
I am definitely, most certainly, unequivocally, undoubtedly not a poet. http://thoughtzine.com is perhaps the most difficult challenge I have thrown at myself.
